The clearest picture of what HumanityHub does comes from the people who have taken part in it. Many describe a real change: more confidence in themselves, a clearer direction for their work or business, and practical skills they can draw on day to day — from improving their language to knowing who to turn to when something goes wrong. Just as valuable is not having to face any of it alone. Being part of a group going through similar challenges turns an isolating process into a shared one, where experiences are passed around and complicated steps start to feel more manageable. When asked, every participant said they were ready to put what they had gained into practice. There's more about HumanityHub and the work behind it on our site. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa @rct_zagreb #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #Ukraine

👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa @rct_zagreb #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #JobClub #PeerSupport #Ukraine

Looking for work after displacement can feel isolating — especially when the rules and the language are new. A job club changes that. It's not a class or a one-off workshop, but a regular space where people share the practical side of job hunting (CVs, applications, interviews, understanding contracts) along with the emotional weight of it. Doors open through others' contacts. Morale holds together on the harder weeks. Beyond a job, what often comes out of a job club is something quieter: a network of people who stay, well after the search is over. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa @rct_zagreb #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #JobClub #PeerSupport #Ukraine

👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa @rct_zagreb #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #Entrepreneurship #RefugeeEntrepreneurs #Ukraine

For many refugees, recognising foreign qualifications takes months or even years. Meanwhile, expertise sits unused and bills don't pause. This is why entrepreneurial training matters: starting your own activity can become a faster route to putting skills back into action — and rebuilding income on your own terms. The work isn't only practical (business planning, finance, navigating local rules), but also about the confidence, networks and connections that make a project actually take off. Autonomy that doesn't depend on waiting for systems to catch up. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa @rct_zagreb #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #Entrepreneurship #RefugeeEntrepreneurs #Ukraine

👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @rct_zagreb @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #PsychosocialSupport #MentalHealth #Ukraine

For people rebuilding their lives after displacement, looking for work doesn't happen in a vacuum. Grief, anxiety, exhaustion, the loss of familiar routines — none of it pauses to make room for job applications. That's why psychosocial support comes first in our approach. Not therapy in a clinical sense, but listening, space and attention — the kind of care that helps people feel stable enough to start planning what comes next. Wellbeing isn't a side note in integration. It's where everything else becomes possible. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @rct_zagreb @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #PsychosocialSupport #MentalHealth #Ukraine

👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa @rct_zagreb #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #IntegratedApproach #RefugeeIntegration #Ukraine

Finding work after displacement is rarely a single problem. It touches wellbeing, language, networks, skills and confidence all at once — and responses that focus on just one of these rarely take hold. HumanityHub brings together four connected strands of work: psychosocial support, cultural orientation, entrepreneurial training and peer support networks. Each starts from what people already bring — their experience, knowledge and resilience. We're putting this approach into practice with Ukrainian refugees in Italy and Croatia. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa @rct_zagreb #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #IntegratedApproach #RefugeeIntegration #Ukraine

Some conversations happen best in an open space. To mark World Refugee Day, the Rehabilitation Centre for Stress and Trauma brought HumanityHub to Ribnjak Park in Zagreb — out of a formal setting and into the heart of the community. Through creative activities and shared moments, representatives of organisations, people with lived experience of displacement and members of the local community came together around what matters: connection, solidarity and support. We spoke with Kateryna and Olena, the two women behind the "Giornate della cultura ucraina"...

When refugee status and gender intersect, barriers to employment don't simply stack up — they overlap. According to EIGE, refugee women in Europe are more likely to be unemployed or economically inactive than refugee men: two systems of inequality reinforcing one another. Care responsibilities tend to fall more heavily on women, eating into the time available for language courses, accreditation and the steps that lead to a job. And even with qualifications in hand, many are channelled into lower-paid sectors — domestic and care work in particular — where the risk of precarious or undeclared employment is higher. Looking at displacement through a gender lens reveals what would otherwise stay hidden. It's where fairer pathways into employment begin. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @rct_zagreb @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #RefugeeWomen #GenderEquality #Intersectionality #Ukraine

Support for refugees isn't built by one organisation alone. As part of HumanityHub, the Rehabilitation Centre for Stress and Trauma brought together 27 people from 16 organisations and institutions in Zagreb to look at how support for Ukrainian refugees in Croatia can grow. Civil society, public institutions, refugee services and members of the Ukrainian community sat around the same table — sharing experiences and identifying what already works and what still needs to change. 🇬🇧 Participation does not happen by chance: it requires time, active listening and tools developed together with the people involved. Through HumanityHub, over twenty Ukrainian women helped to define the content, methods and priorities of the programme, creating a Job Club that has become a space for learning, guidance and mutual support. This experience demonstrates how active listening is the first step towards creating opportunities for inclusion. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @rct_zagreb @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #Deskilling #RefugeeEmployment #Ukraine

Across Europe, many refugees end up in roles that ask far less than what they've studied or done. Engineers in warehouses, teachers in cleaning roles — it's a familiar pattern, and it has a name: deskilling. Deskilling isn't a question of effort or motivation. It's the outcome of recognition procedures, language barriers, missing networks and labour-market rules that leave little space for skills earned elsewhere. The cost is shared — by individuals who lose income and prospects, and by communities that miss out on contributions they could have benefited from. Skills don't disappear at a border. Systems can be redesigned to let them through. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds @rct_zagreb @cscdanilodolci @actgrupa #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #Deskilling #RefugeeEmployment #Ukraine

On World Refugee Day, attention turns to people forced to leave home. But who gets to do the speaking? Around 117 million people are currently displaced worldwide. News coverage leans on politicians and institutions; the vocabulary of “waves” and “record numbers” pushes names, reasons and individual paths into the background. Learning a language doesn't only happen in a classroom. As part of HumanityHub's psychosocial support programme, Ukrainian participants in Croatia practised Croatian where it matters most: in everyday situations. That included group lunches in Zagreb restaurants, where ordering food, talking about local dishes and sharing a meal became a way to build both language skills and a sense of belonging. Finding work in a new country isn't simply about effort or willingness. Refugees often face labour markets that run on unfamiliar rules: where jobs are advertised, how applications work, which documents are required. These structural conditions shape which opportunities are within reach — and how people rebuild their working lives after displacement. This is the first in a series where we look at the real barriers to employment, and how HumanityHub works to address them. 👉 humanityhub.eu #ESFplus #SocialInnovationPlus #EUfunds #HumanityHub #SocialInclusion #SupportUkraine #LabourMarket #Ukraine

🌻 Beyond emergency. Towards long-term inclusion. Over 4 million Ukrainians have fled the war and found temporary safety across Europe. But safety is just the first step. What comes next — finding work, building a life, feeling part of a community — is where the real challenge begins. HumanityHub is a project working alongside Ukrainian refugees in Italy and Croatia to co-create real pathways: psychosocial support, entrepreneurship training, job clubs, and peer networks — all built around actual needs and people's own strengths.
