On 20 June 2026, on the occasion of World Refugee Day, a community event was held in Ribnjak Park in Zagreb as part of the project HumanityHub: Where Cultural Inclusion Meets Economic Empowerment.
The event was organised with the aim of bringing the HumanityHub project and the results achieved so far closer to the wider community, in a space of encounter, connection, and solidarity. Through social gathering and creative activities, the importance of community, mutual connection, and support for people who have been forced to leave their homes was highlighted.
The event was attended by representatives of various organisations, people with lived experience of displacement, and members of the local community. This diverse gathering gave special value to the event, creating a space where different experiences, perspectives, and forms of support came together.
During the event, the HumanityHub project, its objectives, and the results achieved so far were presented. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of activities aimed at supporting Ukrainian refugees, as well as on the contribution that community, cooperation, and available forms of support can make in the process of inclusion and empowerment.
Marking World Refugee Day in Ribnjak Park was an opportunity to present the project in an open and accessible space, outside a formal setting, in an atmosphere of togetherness and solidarity.
Such events are important because they create space to talk about displacement, inclusion, and support in a direct and human way. In this way, they build and strengthen connections between organisations, members of the local community, and refugees, while reminding us that support is not built only through services and activities, but also through encounter, understanding, and joint action.
Through the HumanityHub project, space for connection, exchange, and empowerment continues to grow, with the aim of strengthening the social and economic inclusion of Ukrainian refugees and contributing to a more open and supportive community.
